The Emerald Cave
Discover the Emerald Cave : A hidden gem on the island of Koh Mook, Thailand. Swim through a dark tunnel and emerge into a stunning lagoon surrounded by towering cliffs.

The Journey to the lagoon
Take an adventurous journey through the dark, winding tunnel of the Emerald Cave, either swimming or kayaking through the cool water. The tunnel, about 60 meters long, takes roughly 5 minutes to navigate. As you move along, enjoy the unique rock formations and the soft light reflecting off the cave walls.
The only way to access the hidden Emerald Lagoon is through this secret passage by sea. At the end of the tunnel, you’ll come upon the quiet beauty of the lagoon—a hidden spot with clear waters, a small sandy beach, and high limestone cliffs. This breathtaking geological formation is one of the region’s most iconic landmarks.
Birds and Pirates : History of the Emerald Cave
Before becoming a popular tourist destination, the Emerald Cave was primarily known for its bird nests. These nests, made from the saliva of swiftlet birds, are a delicacy in Chinese cuisine, believed to have medicinal properties. Locals would risk their lives to harvest these valuable nests, which were often found clinging to the high cliffs of the cave.
Later, the Emerald Cave, also known as Tham Morakot, gained notoriety as a hideout for pirates. These daring seafarers used the secluded lagoon as a safe haven to store their stolen treasures. Legend has it that hidden riches may still lie buried within the depths of the cave, waiting to be discovered.
